What does the role entail?
Whether you’re looking to become a GP Surveyor (lead) or Co-Surveyor, you will:
- Attend a pre-arranged on-site survey visit, to assess without bias, the performance of the general practice or service against the Royal Australian College for General Practitioners (RACGP’s) Standards for general practice (5th edition)
- Provide education and advice to practices on how they can improve the quality and safety of the care and services delivered
- Contribute to the completion of professional survey visit reports by assessing the practice’s performance
- Notify QPA of critical deficiencies and patient risks that may be identified
- Complete ongoing surveyor education and training as required by the Scheme to maintain competence and knowledge of the Standards
- Maintain current knowledge of the QPA program, services and processes
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy in line with QPA policies and expectations
- Confidently represent QPA, it’s vision and mission to QPA clients and other stakeholders
Our QPA quality surveyors will have…
- Excellent English language skills and strong communication skills including adopting a non-judgemental and empathetic approach
- Excellent understanding of the Standards and quality issues in general practice
- High level of computer and report writing skills
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team and engage positively with colleagues and clients
- A good understanding of the political, economic and quality dynamics in general practice
- A commitment to professional development and performance appraisal
- An interest in travelling to practices in various locations, which may include visiting rural and remote practice locations
Please also note, there are differences in the specific qualification and experience requirements for the GP Surveyor role and the Co-Surveyor role. Further information can be provided on request or once the Expression of Interest form is submitted.
